If you see another message that says “The security certificate isn’t from a trusted source or there is a problem with the server’s security certificate”, the error is probably because you didn’t use SSL to secure your email account. To fix this issue, go to Settings> Manage Accounts. Pick the account that’s out-of-date if you want to display the account settings dialog. Select “Change Mailbox settings. Advanced mailbox setting”. Scroll down in the dialog and check the boxes for “require SSL for incoming and outgoing email”. Click on Done> save, and voila! Your Bigpond email installation and updating issues are resolved.
